Hull University is a large educational establishment with a range of old and new buildings based in the City of Hull. The Estates department called us in to survey a number of lifts within existing buildings where the shaft dimensions made the installation of a standard package lift impossible.
The Brynmor Jones Library was our first job at the University where the existing goods/passenger lift needed to be changed for a passenger lift. The old lift had shutter gates and manual landing doors and access needed to be improved for disabled users.

The main difficulty was that the lift car needed two entrances on one floor, it had to be larger for wheelchair users and also have fully automatic doors!!
Our XIM borehole lift is designed for just this problem and the new lift achieved all these objectives and still increased the car size by over 30% using the same shaft.

After this successful project we have now completed further installations around the campus, all run on a turnkey basis and provided unique solutions to problems that other lift companies could not resolve.
